About the speaker
Sam Groth is the eldest of three children and was born and raised in regional NSW. Moving to Melbourne at 16 to pursue his dream of being a professional tennis player, Sam represented Australia at both the Olympic Games and in the Davis Cup, as well as being awarded Australian Tennis' highest honour, the Newcombe Medal in 2015. Following his retirement from tennis after the Australian Open in 2018, Sam embarked on a media career that has seen him work extensively across sport, travel, news and current affairs with the Nine network, as well as being a respected columnist for NewsCorp publications.
Sam won the 2022 State election in November 2022 and now sits as a member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, representing the Liberal Party in the seat of Nepean. He is also the Shadow Minister for Youth and Shadow Minister for Tourism, Sport and Events and a member of the Environment and Planning Committee.
